As part of our contract development services, we support companies, public authorities, and other market participants in developing application-specific products and formulations. The starting point can be a concrete technical challenge, a regulatory requirement, or even a product-related idea that needs to be transformed into a robust and marketable solution.

In the areas of landscape, water, and environmental protection, requirements differ considerably with regard to subsurface conditions, water balance, durability, application technology, and permitting frameworks. Standard products often reach their limits here. Our task is to translate these individual requirements into technically robust, practical, and verifiable solutions.

The development cycle

Our path to a marketable solution is three-stage: From the defined task, a suitable material logic is developed, this is tested in the field and externally verified, and then refined so that it can be reliably implemented under real conditions.

Needs assessment and goal definition

At the outset, we work with you to structure the initial situation and define clear technical target parameters. Typical content includes:

  • Area of ​​application and environmental conditions (e.g. climate, exposure, topography, logistics)
  • Subsoil and substrate type (e.g., raw soil, sand, gravel, landfill cover, organic layers)
  • Requirements regarding water balance, permeability or sealing effect
  • Target effect (e.g. erosion and sediment control, surface stabilization, dust binding, vegetation establishment)

Technical feasibility and applicability assessment

Based on the defined objective, we examine:

  • The fundamental technical feasibility,
  • The applicability with existing machines, granules and process chains,
  • Possible conflicts of objectives (e.g. stability vs. permeability, durability vs. degradability),
  • Project-specific risks and constraints.

A key component of this phase is the early integration of our practical experience. Our team consists of experts with extensive implementation experience in real-world landscape, water, and environmental protection projects. This practical knowledge is incorporated into the development phase, reducing erroneous assumptions and subsequent iteration loops.

Initial formulations and process definition

Based on the feasibility study, we develop:

  • Initial formulation and system approaches (e.g. biopolymer systems, granulates, additives, carrier materials),
  • Defined process and application parameters (mixing sequence, dosages, viscosity, application rates, processing windows),

In parallel, prototype formulations are developed along with structured technical fundamentals, such as specification outlines, application descriptions, or test concepts. This transforms an idea or task into a robust technical working basis.

Field tests, monitoring and reporting

If required, we will support the initial field applications. The scope and depth of this support depend on the project goals and application context. Typical services include:

  • Design of test and comparison areas,
  • Definition of suitable monitoring and evaluation parameters,
  • Accompanying documentation of the application,
  • Structured analysis and technically sound reporting.
The field tests are designed from the outset to be compatible with subsequent testing and verification steps.

Testing, verification and certification phase

Depending on the target market and regulatory environment, we support the transition to suitable testing and verification procedures. These include, among other things:

  • Certificates of suitability and test reports according to relevant standards (e.g. DIN, ASTM),
  • Ecological and environmental certifications (e.g. EcoCert-compliant systems),
  • Project-specific audits by independent institutes and certification bodies (e.g. TÜV or similar bodies).

Not every application requires a formal approval in the strict sense. In practice, market readiness often consists of a combination of robust test reports, suitability assessments, and project-specific approvals. We structure this process in a focused and efficient manner.

Marketable application and transfer into practice

After completion of the required testing and verification steps, a technically validated and market-ready solution is available.
